Theme: Media in South Asia : Some Priority Areas

Media in South Asian countries are always facing challenges both due to internal and regional developments. While the internal issues for media practitioners and owners are of long term nature, some regional developments throw up challenges that need attention. The Annual South Asia Media Summit – 2009 plans to take up four such priority areas for discussion with media professionals in the region. The areas include  - i) Freedom vs Threats to Journalists; ii) Women and Media; iii) Media and Right to Information; and iv) Global Meltdown and Challenges for Media.
