Media has moved away from positive expectations of civil society. It has blurred the lines between serious news and low cost reality show, and coined a new word “infotainment”. It is not interested in providing a public sphere for dialogue and interaction among the citizens; instead it is busy transforming the citizens into spectators by offering them entertainment. Global competition and profit motives have further made them forget their social responsibility. To discuss this critical issue, MICCI will hold four seminars across the country.
